A kegel app blocker: your phone habit becomes your kegel reminder

For pelvic floor training, whether that's postpartum, prostate health, or just because. Practical notes, not medical advice.

Hey y'all! Quick note first: I'm an app developer, not a doctor or a pelvic floor physical therapist. Nothing on this page is medical advice. If a professional has given you a kegel routine, follow theirs. This page is only about one thing: actually remembering to do it.

The hard part of kegels is remembering

Ask anyone who's been told to do kegels how it's going, and you'll usually hear the same thing: “I know I should, I just forget.” Kegel apps mostly try to fix that with reminder notifications, and notifications are really easy to swipe away.

You know what you don't forget? Your phone. Most of us reach for it a ridiculous number of times a day (no judgment, me too). So HonorFit flips it around: Instagram is locked, you do a set of kegels, and it opens. The urge to scroll becomes the reminder, and it shows up all day without you setting anything.

The one exercise nobody can see you do

I built HonorFit on the honor system because I didn't want a camera counting my pushups. Kegels are where that really pays off. Nobody can see a kegel: not the person next to you on the bus, not your coworkers, and definitely not a phone camera. An app that counts reps with the camera can't count these at all.

HonorFit doesn't try. You do your set and scroll a wheel to how many you did. So you can earn your Instagram time on the couch, in a meeting or in line at the grocery store, and nobody's the wiser.

Who this might be for

How to set it up

  1. Install HonorFit and pick the apps to block. Start with one or two.
  2. Tap the gear on the home screen, then the Exercises card.
  3. Tap the Kegels suggestion, then tap Save.
  4. Next time you open a blocked app, do a set and scroll the Kegels wheel to your reps.

A new exercise starts at 30 seconds of app time per rep, so a set of 10 kegels earns 5 minutes. You can change that under Each rep earns. If your routine is counted in time instead, like a 5-minute session, flip Counts to Minutes and log the minutes.

Starting with version 1.15.0, this is free: you can add up to three exercises of your own without paying (Glute bridges is a one-tap suggestion too, if your physio has you doing those), and the free version banks up to 2 hours of time. Pro adds unlimited banked time, unlimited custom exercises, saved routines, a pause mode, owe mode (take the time now, do the reps later) and month and year stats. For a longer walkthrough with glute bridges, see do kegels to unlock your phone.

Go easy on the numbers

With kegels, more isn't better. Health sites like MedlinePlus and Cleveland Clinic generally talk about sets of around 10, a few times a day, and say overdoing it can leave the muscles too tight. So please don't turn this into 100 kegels for an hour of YouTube. Let a walk or some squats cover the bigger chunks of time.

If you're pregnant, postpartum, have pelvic pain, or kegels hurt, check with your doctor or a pelvic floor physical therapist first. Sometimes the answer is “not kegels right now”, and that's fine. You can set HonorFit up with whatever they recommend instead.

Private by default

This is kind of a personal thing to track, so it's worth saying: HonorFit has no account and no data collection, and nothing leaves your phone. No camera, no AI. Your exercise list is on your device and nowhere else.

And to be honest about the limits: it runs on your word, so you could log a set you didn't do. Like any app blocker, you can turn it off. And it only locks apps, not websites.

HonorFit Blocker is a free app blocker for iPhone and Android where you earn screen time with exercise, kegels included. Honor system, no camera, nothing leaves your phone. It's a habit tool, not a medical device. Maybe some of y'all will enjoy it!

FAQ

Is HonorFit a kegel trainer or a medical app?

No. It's a general app blocker that unlocks with exercise, and kegels are one of the exercises you can log. It doesn't teach technique or treat anything. For that, talk to your doctor or a pelvic floor physical therapist.

How does the app know I did my kegels?

It doesn't, and nothing could. HonorFit runs on the honor system: you do a set and log the reps yourself. There's no camera and no sensors.

Is it free to use kegels in HonorFit?

Yes. Starting with version 1.15.0, you can add up to three exercises of your own for free, and Kegels is one of the one-tap suggestions. Setting what each rep earns is free too, and the free version banks up to 2 hours of time. Pro adds unlimited banked time, unlimited custom exercises, saved routines, pause mode, owe mode and month and year stats.

Can anyone see that I'm tracking kegels?

No. There's no account and no data collection, and nothing leaves your phone. Your exercise list and your log stay on your device.
