A yoga app blocker: do your practice, then scroll

For yoga, pilates and stretching people. You log minutes, not reps, on the honor system.

Hey y'all! I built HonorFit because I wanted pushups standing between me and Instagram, without propping my phone up so a camera could count them (doing that at a gas station was not my finest moment lol). You do the exercise, you log it yourself, and your apps unlock.

But a bunch of people don't want pushups to be the price. They want it to be the yoga they keep meaning to do. So here's the deal: do 20 minutes of yoga, earn your scrolling time.

Why a camera app can't check your yoga

Most apps that make you exercise to unlock your phone count reps with the front camera. That works OK for squats. It falls apart for a yoga flow. What's one “rep” of a sun salutation? Of a 90-second pigeon pose? Of a pilates hundred, or ten minutes of hamstring stretches? A camera can't tell a good stretch from you lying on the mat thinking about your inbox.

There's also the setup: phone propped up on the floor, decent light, the whole mat in frame. That's a lot of fuss for something that's supposed to calm you down.

HonorFit doesn't try to check. It runs on the honor system: you do your practice, you scroll a wheel to the number of minutes, and that's it. So it works for any practice, whether that's vinyasa, yin, a reformer class, mat pilates, or ten minutes of stretching before bed.

How it works

You pick the apps that eat your day, like Instagram or TikTok. They stay locked until you log some exercise. A timed workout is logged in minutes instead of reps: Yoga, Pilates, Walk, Meditate and HIIT are among the one-tap suggestions in the app, and you can add your own, like Stretching or Barre.

By default, each minute of a timed workout earns 30 seconds of app time. So a 20-minute flow buys you 10 minutes of scrolling. (Think yoga deserves more? You can change that rate.) Your time goes into one balance that only counts down while a blocked app is actually on screen. Close Instagram and the clock stops.

What's free

Starting with version 1.15.0, timed workouts and up to three exercises of your own are free. They used to be Pro. That's enough for Yoga, Pilates and Stretching without paying anything. Setting what each minute earns is free too, and the free version banks up to 2 hours of time, so a long class doesn't go to waste. Blocking, logging and your streak are free as well.

Pro is optional. It adds unlimited banked time, unlimited custom exercises, saved routines, a pause mode, owe mode (take the time now, do your session later) and month and year stats.

Set it up in a minute

  1. Install HonorFit and pick the apps to block.
  2. Tap the gear on the home screen, then the Exercises card.
  3. Tap the Yoga suggestion (it has a ⏱, so it's already set to minutes).
  4. Do pilates too? Tap the Pilates suggestion. For anything else, like stretching, tap + Add exercise, name it, and flip Counts to Minutes.
  5. Tap Save. After your next session, scroll the Yoga wheel to your minutes and submit.

More detail on the exercise editor is in how to customize your exercises.

A few ways to use it

The honest part

Nobody's checking. You could log 20 minutes of savasana you didn't do. But the only person you'd be fooling is you, and if you catch yourself fudging it, the price is probably too high, so make it easier on yourself. HonorFit also only locks apps, not websites, and like any app blocker, you can turn it off if you really want to.

On the privacy side: no account, no camera, no AI, and no data collection. Everything stays on your phone.

HonorFit Blocker is a free app blocker for iPhone and Android where you earn screen time with exercise, including yoga, pilates and stretching. Honor system, no camera, nothing leaves your phone. It's not for everyone, but maybe it's for you!

FAQ

Is there an app blocker that unlocks with yoga?

Yes. HonorFit locks the apps you pick until you log exercise, and that includes timed workouts logged in minutes, like yoga, pilates, stretching or a walk. It's on iPhone and Android.

How does it know I actually did the yoga?

It doesn't. HonorFit runs on the honor system: you do your practice and log the minutes yourself. There's no camera and no AI, which is also why it works for yoga, pilates or stretching, where there are no reps for a camera to count.

Are timed workouts free?

Starting with version 1.15.0, yes. Timed workouts, up to three exercises of your own, and changing what each minute earns are all free, and the free version banks up to 2 hours of time. Pro adds unlimited banked time, unlimited custom exercises, saved routines, pause mode, owe mode and month and year stats.

How much scrolling time does 20 minutes of yoga earn?

By default, each minute of a timed workout earns 30 seconds of app time, so a 20-minute practice earns 10 minutes. You can change that rate in Settings, and that's free.
